3. Saint Nicholas the Miracle-worker with scenes of His life

It is high quality school painting, painted in old traditions. In good condition.

Scraper-planed board with an ark, gesso ground, tempera, drying oil. Hagiographic icons are known from the 13th century - this is a type of icon, where an image of a saint is surrounded by a frame, consisting of the minor scenes - marks with the imagery of the most important events of his/her life and most famous deeds and miracles. The marks are located over the center of the saint in the form of a wreath, composed from his virtues and gifts. At the same time, the scenes are very interesting and always easily recognized by the faithful people.
