13. Saint Nicholas the Miracle-worker

Wood, lewkas, tempera.
Size: 35,5x31x3,2 cm.

High quality, school painting, painted in old traditions. Good condition. The icon has been cleaned from the soiling, dust and darkened olifa.

Saint Nicholas is held in exceptional veneration in Russia. He left no theological nor works, although there are about one hundred and fifty legends of the miracles worked by him. In Russia he is personified as the shepherd of the Church, and is included as one of the main Church Father of Orthodoxy.

On fields are represented: the left border depicts St. Tsarina Helena. On the right border St. Ioann (John).
